1. Membership

Membership at Salidar.Org comes in several different levels and is not a right but a privilege granted by the site administrators. The main rules that we live by are as follows:

  • No whining.
  • No harassment.
  • If a member of the site who is Aes Sedai or Gaidin asks you to do something, it is your obligation to do so. This rule applies to requests only within reason and does not apply to anything within real life. If you feel any member of Salidar.Org is abusing this authority, please report this abuse as soon as possible.
2. Levels of Membership

If you do decide to join us, simply fill out our Membership Application, and let us know the information requested there. Double check that the name you would like isn’t already taken, and then you get to pick out an avatar. Your avatar is what will be your “face” here at Salidar. Some of us have a hard time with so many names, but your avatar will help us remember who is who. Also, make sure that your avatar is one that you like and will be happy with for quite some time because once you choose it, the decision will stay with you for the length of your stay here. A couple of tips to avatar searchers: make sure your avatar is human and tasteful, and keep in mind that ultimately approval of avatars is up to Senior Admins.

  • Guest - When you first arrive here, you will have the rank of “Guest.” As a guest, you can post in any of the forums you can see. Just make sure to register on our message boards. Come introduce yourself in our “Introductions” forum, give us your thoughts in our “Book Discussion” forums, and get to know us. In your signature, feel free to have up to 10 lines of text in which you can put your name and perhaps a fun quote.
  • Honored Guest - If you are a Senior Member at another Wheel of Time site, we are so glad to see you! Post in any of the forums that you can see, and let us know how you’re doing! In your signature, feel free to make known your rank, as well as your site affiliation. For example, “Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah at Dragonmount.com” or “Warder to Kitty Sedai at Tarvalon.net.”
  • Novice/Recruit - When you join Salidar, men join as Recruits and women join as Novices. Both ranks have a special signature denoting their position, and once you are assigned into a Division or Family you can put that in your signature as well. Novices and Recruits can post in any forum they can see, with special emphasis placed on the Garrison for the men and the Hall of Novices for the women. Here you will meet new friends, find your place, and learn the ins and outs of how things are done here.In order to be raised to Accepted/Tower Guard, all members of Salidar.Org must be at least 16 years old and must do a project for our library. To get your project, contact Wynne Sedai or Lucianna Sedai of the Brown Ajah for more information on this. There is also a listing of open projects that are available in the library itself. This will be your initial contribution to our site, so make sure that it is one you are interested in and can really do well. After your project is approved by Wynne Sedai, you are then eligible to be raised. You are brought forth for raising by the Mistress of Novices or the Master of Students. All projects given to Salidar become sole property of both Salidar.Org and the author – this means that should you leave Salidar.Org for any reason, Salidar.Org is allowed to continue using your project; however, you are not limited to posting your work solely at Salidar.Org. We don’t have a minimum time of membership here at Salidar, but you’ll want to be sure that you’ve been posting along the way and that our Aes Sedai (for the ladies) or the Gaidin (for the men) know who you are, since they will be the ones approving you for raising once the Master of Students or Mistress of Novices has decided you are ready.
  • Accepted/Tower Guard - Congratulations! You have passed your test and are now at the second level of rank here at Salidar! You have a new signature that you can find in the Garrison or the Hall of Novices, and at this time you have earned the right to petition the Ajah of your choice to be a guest in their forum and to help them on Ajah specific projects and tasks. At this point you’ll go to your Head of Ajah (women) or Sword of Ajah (men) for a second project for the site. All projects given to Salidar become sole property of both Salidar.Org and the author – this means that should you leave Salidar.Org for any reason, Salidar.Org is allowed to continue using your project; however, you are not limited to posting your work solely at Salidar.Org. You also have a fresh set of new forums to post in and a chance to get to know some of our Senior Members in your Ajah of choice in a slightly less formal atmosphere in your private Ajah forums One thing to keep in mind, though, is that Accepted and Tower Guards are not full members of an Ajah until they have been raised to Aes Sedai and Gaidin. In fact, you do not need to immediately petition an Ajah on your raising. You can take as much time as you like to really decide where you belong. After you have completed your project for your Ajah, your Head of Ajah (for women) or your Sword of Ajah (for men) will present you to the Aes Sedai or Gaidin to be raised if you are 18 years of age and if they feel you are ready to take the next step. Once again there is no set time limit, but make sure that you are posting in your Ajah forum and are really getting to know your soon-to-be fellow Senior Members. They will, after all, soon be your Brothers and Sisters!
  • Aes Sedai/Gaidin - Once you are an Aes Sedai or a Gaidin, you are considered a Senior Member here at Salidar.Org. You have earned your rank through time and service and are now eligible for more responsibility. As a Senior Member, you can serve your Ajah as a Sitter or Counselor, can petition to bond, and can have your own Division or Family of junior members. You can also now have a graphical signature or one that is up to 10 lines of text, according to your preference. Always remember that our senior members are an example to junior members and help set a high standard of honor and integrity for the rest of the site.
3. Raising Process

Raisings are subject to approval by the Owner of the site, Lorya Temaile. Potential to be raised is not solely based upon the below criteria; maturity and relationships within the site are also looked upon. It is a privilege to be raised, not the right of any member. Along with these duties the Mistress of Novices moderates all forums involving Novices and Accepted, as they are under her domain.
  • The Master of Students - As a senior admin of the site it is the obligation of the Master of Students to run all aspects of the Garrison and to stimulate the raising process of Recruits and Tower Guard. • The Amyrlin Seat - As the adminstrator of the site it is the obligation of the Amyrlin Seat to run all aspects the Salidar.Org.
If a junior member has a problem, they are to go first to their Family/Division leader and then to the Mistress of Novices or the Master of Students. All Senior Members can go to their Head/Sword of Ajah or their Sitter/Councilor for assistance.
5. Relationships

We have several very special relationships here at Salidar. They are the Bond between an Aes Sedai and a Gaidin, the Near-sibling relationship, and the First-sibling relationship. These are all considered very important and are not to be requested lightly.

  • Bond - An Aes Sedai and a Gaidin can request to be Bonded together after they have both been Senior Members for one month. They will send an application for bonding to the Amyrlin Seat and participate in Bond Counseling with a member of the Gray Ajah who will be assigned to them. Bonding is a very special privilege. It is our policy that a bonding between people who are dating is not permitted. If you are married, engaged, or living together, you may bond each other here at Salidar. Due to the nature of this bond and to spare hurt feelings in the future, Junior Members are not allowed to promise, announce, or hint at who they might want as a potential bondmate. This is a matter that can only be discussed at the level of Senior Membership.
  • Near-Sibling - Although we are not Aiel and this site is not based on the Aiel culture, we do permit near-sibling relationships between Senior Members within certain guidelines that are very similar to bonding. Both siblings must apply to the Amyrlin Seat and then attend a mediation session with the Gray Ajah.
  • First-Sibling - Once again, we are not Aiel nor is this site based off of the Aiel culture. In order to go through the First-Sibling ceremony the two applicants must be of Senior Member rank, must have been near-siblings for a minimum of 6 months, must apply to the Amyrlin Seat, must go through a mediation session with a member of the Gray Ajah, and must go through a real life ceremony. There may be exceptions to this rule if applicants are in different countries.
Bonding Session Guidelines - Applicable to all relationship bonds as seen above.
Due to the nature of the session and the time it takes on all three parties (both the applicants and the Gray Ajah member) to have such a meeting, the following guidelines have been set up:
  • First Session - Should the mediation session need to be rescheduled due to one of the applicants not attending the mediation, one other shall be scheduled immediately if they have contacted the other parties at least 48 hours prior to the session (barring emergency situations). If the applicant fails to contact the other parties, then they will be required to wait one week before rescheduling their second session.
  • Second Session (Only applicable if the first session did not take place) - Should the medation session need to be rescheduled due to one of the applicants not attending the mediation, one other shall be scheduled immediately if they have contacted the other parties at least 48 hours prior to the session (barring emergency situations). If the applicant fails to contact the other parties then they will be required to wait one month before re-applying to the Amyrlin Seat with a full explanation as to why they must re-apply.
  • Third Session (Only applicable if the first and second session did not take place) - Should the mediation session not occur due to one of the applicants not attending the mediation, the application will be denied. ~~ If for some reason the Gray Ajah member does not show to the session and another is not able to take their place, another session will be scheduled without recourse to the applicants.
6. Real-Life Functions

Because Salidar is a Community site, we like to get together to have parties and to get to know each other in Real Life as well as in chat and on the boards. There are some guidelines for real life gatherings, starting with the fact that you must be:

  • An official member of Salidar (of Novice/Recruit rank or higher) for at least one month.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older (with exceptions made on rare occasions under special circumstances)
  • You must post a Real life picture of yourself here on our site.
  • You must speak to an Administrator on the phone.

By attending a real life function you realize that you are in all ways responsible for your actions. Salidar.Org takes no responsibility for your safety. Members that are below the legal age of drinking are not allowed to drink at Salidar.Org functions. Illegal drugs and other substances are not allowed at Salidar.Org functions. Misconduct of any kind at Salidar.Org functions will result in both expulsion from the function and from the site.

Once chosen, your avatar is your face here and what we know you by; therefore, once you have chosen your avatar, you will not be allowed to change it except with special permission.

9. IRC Chat

If you are a full member of Salidar.Org and are listed in our Who’s Who, then mIRC is a fun way to get to know your fellow members of Salidar.Org in a more “real time” setting. There are people in #salidarorg around the clock, and we love to meet new people and to have fun! Please just keep in mind that all of our Site Rules and Guidelines must also be observed in chat.

10. Administrative Privilege

Lorya Temaile withholds the right to make administrative decisions on the site by making exceptions to the rules on special occasions. No others can grant these exceptions.
